We like to think of the HAN staff as lean, but mighty. There are only four of us, but we cover a lot of ground for our Hospice Advocates. We’re a diverse and passionate group…which puts us in great company with the larger hospice community.
Our fearless leader, Jonathan Keyserling, has been doing this longer than he will let us put in writing. He’s really an attorney by training, but he’s only used that skill as a public servant working on the Hill. He has focused his career on ensuring that critical infrastructural and health care communities, such as hospice, have a voice before Congress. If you listen carefully, you’ll hear his South Carolina drawl from time to time.

Sharon Pearce is your point person on Congressional affairs, legislation, and the intersection of grassroots, policy, and politics. Sharon comes to NHPCO following three years as VP, Advocacy for the National PACE Association. Sharon also worked on Capitol Hill for many years, was a hired-gun lobbyist at a large K Street firm for several years, and also was the lead lobbyist for Girl Scouts of the USA. She’s also a Daisy Girl Scout troop leader, so if you’re in need of thin mints, give her a shout.
Vice President of Public Policy
Karen Davis is HAN’s resident policy “wonk” and comma usage police. At HAN, she works to meet the needs of the hospice community through policy analysis and supporting advocacy programming. She is also head organizer of our much-beloved Advocacy Intensive. She keeps the HAN team on its toes by delivering zingers when they least expect it.
