Music Therapy Helps Dying Patients

Shoutout to all the Hospice and Palliative Music Therapists out there! (There are many musicians on the NHPCO staff, fyi!) An article over on NextAvenue caught my eye, so I wanted to share it with you all. Entitled, “Hospice Music Therapy Helps Dying Patients,”, it gives a good overview of how music therapy works, why people find it to be beneficial, and some of the challenges facing music therapists (cough cough FUNDING cough cough).

It also gives a minute to a new documentary about music and music therapy in hospice, Seven Songs for a Long Life:

Are you a Music Therapist, or do you have one at your program? Show them some love in the comments!
