Update: Response to House Representative Earl Blumenauer (OR-3)’s announcement

On Monday, October 30, Congressman Earl Blumenauer (OR-3) announced that he will not be seeking re-election in 2024.

“Congressman Earl Blumenauer is among our strongest allies and friends in Congress. Throughout his career as a consummate public servant, he has time and time again dedicated himself to supporting those with serious illness and those receiving care at the end-of-life. From expanding access to hospice through advance care planning, supporting concurrent care treatments, rooting out fraud, and easing the regulatory burden on quality providers, Congressman Blumenauer continues to be a champion for hospice,” said Logan Hoover, Executive Director of the Hospice Action Network.

“On behalf of our advocates across the country, we are grateful to Congressman Blumenauer for all that he has done for the betterment of hospice and look forward to continuing to work closely with him through his final term.”

Congressman Blumenauer was recently recognized as a 2022 Hospice Angel. He received his award as a part of Hospice Action Week 2023, after taking time to speak with participating hospice and palliative care advocates.
