WELCOME HAN INTERNS!
The HAN Team is delighted to welcome Natasha Cooke and Nicholas Telesco, who will be with us until the end of July.
A message from Natasha:
Hi! My name is Natasha Cooke and I am the new intern for NHPCO and the Hospice Action Network! I am a student at the University of New Mexico and I am majoring in Political Science with an emphasis in Women’s Studies. I will be a senior next semester and am planning on graduating in the spring of 2020.
I am from Santa Fe, New Mexico but have recently been living in Albuquerque, New Mexico. While in Albuquerque, I have interned for Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham who was recently elected governor of New Mexico. I am very interested in politics and find that health care and specifically hospice are very important and with the right policies can make a big impact in people’s lives. I can’t wait to help create a better life for people and I am also very excited to be a part of the team!
A Message from Nick:
Hello everyone! My name is Nick Telesco from Queens, New York and I am one of the new Policy Interns for the Hospice Action Network (HAN)! I am excited to advocate for hospice patients, so they can receive the best possible care. I am interested in healthcare policy because it is a very diverse area, with issues ranging from hospice care to the pharmaceutical industry. With an increasing aging population, these services will become especially important in the upcoming years.
As a senior at James Madison University, I am pursuing my interest in healthcare policy by exploring the failed attempts at establishing universal health insurance in the U.S. and analyzing possible methods of universal health insurance as part of my undergraduate thesis. In addition to taking courses in my Public Policy major, I have minors in Honors Interdisciplinary Studies, Political Science, and Writing, Rhetoric, and Technical Communication (WRTC). Outside of the classroom, I am a Senator in the Student Government Association and a brother of Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Fraternity, where I will serve as one of the Recruitment Chairs next year. I look forward to the opportunities and experiences HAN will give me over this summer!
